20 Years of Chemistry – Deluxe Reissue Announced

Girls Aloud are set to mark the 20th anniversary of their third album ‘Chemistry’ with a deluxe reissue via Polydor/Fascination Records this September, alongside a new definitive version of deep cut ‘Singapore’ released today.

The expanded campaign brings ‘Chemistry’ to vinyl for the first time, arriving on pink vinyl and as an exclusive D2C picture disc, both featuring a four‑page insert with previously unseen archive imagery. A 3CD edition collects the original album, B‑sides, rarities and a dedicated remixes disc. Produced by Xenomania, the record features ‘Biology’, ‘Whole Lotta History’, ‘Long Hot Summer’ and their cover of ‘See The Day’.

‘Singapore (Definitive Version)’ is produced by Brian Higgins and mixed by Manon Grandjean, and includes newly expanded sections featuring a previously unheard pre‑chorus from Sarah. The track originally appeared on the bonus disc for ‘The Sound of Girls Aloud’ alongside ‘Something Kinda Ooooh’ and ‘I Think We’re Alone Now’, both included in the new set. A fresh ‘Singapore’ remix from Xenomania alumnus Jon Shave also features on the package.

The deluxe adds four previously unreleased vault recordings: ‘Naked In the Shower’, ‘You Go Too Fast (Demo)’—originally written for but not included on the ‘Herbie: Fully Loaded’ soundtrack—and ‘Watch Me Go (We’re Disco)’, an alternate take with a new intro and additional middle eight. The collection includes new sleeve notes from Nick Levine: “Something special happened when Cheryl, Kimberley, Nadine, Nicola and Sarah got together. It’s a rare quality you can’t manufacture, that some bands never possess, and the clue’s in the album title. You can’t mistake this group’s Chemistry.”

Video – Nicola talks about Sarah on Good Morning Britain

Broadcast on 22/09/23

Breast Cancer Risk Assessment in Young Women was set up in June to fulfil singer Sarah Harding’s dying wish to identify new ways to predict the risk of younger women getting breast cancer. There is currently no routine screening programme for early breast cancer in younger women who don’t have a family history of the disease, despite it being the most common cause of death in women aged 30-55 years. The project will determine risk factors most commonly found in women diagnosed with breast cancer in their early 30s, they will build a model with this data which will in turn help to enable all women to have a risk assessment for breast cancer when they reach the age of 30. Those women identified as high risk could then have access to early screening and opportunities for prevention, to reduce the chances of them developing and potentially dying from the disease. The innovative study has been made possible by funding from the Sarah Harding Breast Cancer Appeal with support from Sarah’s family, friends and Girls Aloud bandmates Nadine Coyle, Cheryl Tweedy, Kimberley Walsh, and Nicola Roberts. Together through various fundraising initiatives, they have raised over £1 million to date. Speaking about the importance of cancer research before her death, Sarah said: “Research is incredibly important in the fight against cancer. Although this research may not be in time to help me, this project is incredibly close to my heart as it may help women like me in the future”.

Jump (20th Anniversary Alternative Video)

The Jump 20th anniversary alternative video was cut together by Chris Fox to celebrate 20 years since the release of Girls Aloud’s debut album Sound Of The Underground.

While digging through the archives for this anniversary, we found tapes of the original raw footage from the Jump video shoot back in 2003. The new video builds on the original by director Katie Bell, focusing entirely on the band and adding in some unseen moments that we love, actually.
